Reduce procedure backlog by accelerating transfer to ambulatory

Millions of elective surgery procedures were postponed due to Covid-19, creating a backlog that will take months to clear.

One way of reducing this backlog and avoiding capacity issues in the near future is to accelerate transfer to ambulatory surgery.

Even before Covid-19 outbreak, the transfer of orthopedic procedures such as joint replacement to Ambulatory Surgery Centers was already happening. The crisis might prove to further accelerate this trend.

Additionally, specialized and lower cost centers are in a good position to flexibly adapt and take incremental businesses from hospital.
